Dysport® Injections for Wrinkles

Dysport® is an Abobotulinum toxin, typeA injection prescribed to temporarily reduce the appearance of moderate and severe wrinkles and frown-lines on the face, and around the eyes and forehead. Over time and as we age, we use certain facial muscles over-and-over, repetitiously, which causes creasing, wrinkles and frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). If swallowing problems occur, they may last for several months, and may require treatment.
Dysport® can spread and affect other areas of the body away from the injection site. This is rare, but it can occur. If you notice muscle complications, seek help for this condition called botulism.

The most common symptoms of botulism include:

muscle weakness and loss of strength
blurred or double vision
drooping eyelids
voice change or hoarseness called (dysphonia)
speech impairment and trouble speaking clearly (dysarthria)
bladder control issues and loss of control
breathing problems
swallowing problems

These symptoms can happen hours to weeks after you receive an injection of Dysport® and they will require medical attention. If these symptoms occur, you should avoid activities that may be dangerous, like operating vehicles.

No serious confirmed case of spread of toxin effect has occurred away from the injection site when Dysport® when used at the recommended dose.

Patients must confirm with the practitioner or physician that they are in fact receiving the labeled product Dysport® in the appropriate container. Complications and cases have been caused by people proclaiming to administer Dysport, when in fact the product was something different and not approved.

Botox Versus Dysport

BOTOX® was introduced and manufactured by Allergan (the company that also produces JUVÉDERM®, Medicis, a dermal filler leader (known for their popular Restylane® and Perlane® facial fillers) produces Dysport™

The popularity of BOTOX® and BOTOX® Cosmetic encouraged the arrival of Dysport™ into the U.S. aesthetics marketplace. Both are the same product botulinum toxin type A, a derived protein relaxes targeted muscles and reduces lines and wrinkles. . Dysport™ uses a protein botulinum toxin type A that is slightly smaller, so there are claims that the injections are less painful and it is stated that the onset is more rapid, so it assimilates and activates quicker than BOTOX®. Both last about the same amount of time, and in some cases, Dysport™ will be less expensive.
